Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in The West Island of Montreal is where you can find a range of small companies. People aren't sure of what the term means and believe it's an independent Island to the west of Montreal. In fact, West Island is actually a whole island. West Island includes the entire part of the island from Lachine up to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there as well. But she only stayed for a short time. Brugel was raised in Courtice in the outskirts of Oshawa. Early ambitions were to be an experienced dancer. However, a growth in her body meant that she was outgrowing her dance partners. In an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she was 6'1" tall and wore heels. When I outgrew my male partners I became a bit too big and quit. The former dancers usually turn to acting. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement of her drama instructor at high school that led her to the path she wanted. The teacher suggested that she try her hand at a character in the annual school production. After a few auditions, she got the role of leading female of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent scholarship at York University, where she took classes in theatre and was awarded an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000.
