With the Squid Game's inaugural Netflix series, Hoyeon, a South Korean model and actress gained international attention. Hoyeon was awarded an award from the Screen Actors Guild Award in Outstanding Performance of Female Actors in Drama Series. In addition, she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in Outstanding Supporting Actress in Drama Series. Hailing from Myeonmok-dong located in the suburbs of Seoul, Hoyeon began her journey as a model for hire in 2011 , walking the runway at Seoul Fashion Week. She took part in Korean's Next Top Model and placed in the runner-up position. The international spotlight came to her in the year 2016 when she was granted an exclusive global contract with Louis Vuitton. Fendi, Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu have all featured her in their campaigns.
